Vikram Sethi

The patient blade

Sethi rebuilt the idea of the night-watchman into an art form, batting through four sessions in the 1994 Chennai Test.

Born in a railway colony in Jhansi, Sethi learned on matting wickets with a bat borrowed from his uncle. He played eleven seasons of first-class cricket before his late call-up at 29.
